26 Feb 12 Human Resource Consulting: Getting To Know Your Workforce

Many different troubles come about in trying to reach amazing human resource consulting with generational differences being one of those present in today’s work areas. it is very important that we not only learn about the strengths and weaknesses of each generational group by making a point to understand them as well. this singular time in the economy is considered unique with the many struggles we as workers must face.

With retirement not being a choice that is possible right now, more and more older workers are choosing to continue working. During the same time that this is going on, there are college graduates that are just entering into the workforce. Because of these trends, there are more problems that are happening between younger and older generations. Business owners everywhere are starting to realize the difficulty that lies behind having a multigenerational workplace.

In spite of going through a recession, many business owners are still giving it everything they have to keep their company going. this is considered the first time traditionalist, Boomers, Generation Xers, and millennials, have all been a part of the workforce at the same time. any business that can turn this conflict into something positive for their company displays effective human resource consulting. Considering the state of the economy and the difficulty that is placed behind it, it is becoming increasingly difficult to be able to prosper with businesses; especially from a business owner point of view.

Rather than focusing on very important aspects of their company, there are many company owners that must work to manage problems between the different generational groups. Taking the positive aspects of each generational group and using it towards their company is how managers can create a thriving environment for the company. an example that you could go by would be with boomers and traditionalist giving their employers large amounts of knowledge, and great determination. seeing knowledge as power and also not being into any kind of team-oriented progress, is what you could say separates the boomers from the millennials.

If the Boomers are not able to train and communicate with the younger generations in the right way, there will be very important information that is lost to the employers. for the Generation Xers, they see their effectiveness coming in the form of independence and their ability to see the creative possibilities in new ideas; which is also a part of their thinking outside the box attitude. in knowing about the millennials, they have the fact that they can work in team environments behind them and they are also great at giving advice about current projects. With being able to offer many new ideas to the workplace, the millennials, being the youngest generation in the workplace, can also be the cheapest to hire.

Effectively managing a business in this work today will start with knowing and understanding all there is to learn about the differences that can often come up between different generations and handling them properly. Go over the different points that are found within every generational group and use those specific points to assign the right task according to them. When you take these points that you have learned about each, you can use them toward making your business run better and have professional human resource consulting.

13 Feb 12 Painters and Decorators Benefiting From the Recession

Painters and decorators are one of the few traders who are benefiting from the recession. With the slow down in home buying and the drop in house prices many can’t afford to move home. rather than riding things out it seems people are opting to make home improvements, from general painting and decorating or a home extension, professional decorators are thriving from the extra demand.

When weighing up the costs of moving against staying put and making some home improvements, there’s an easy winner. the cost of having your whole house re decorated sometimes wouldn’t even come close to the expense involved in moving, especially during today’s climate where many home owners remain in negative equity.

Hiring a professional painter and decorator is a preferred option for many home owners who wouldn’t normally have the time to do the work themselves. it means you can make the changes you want, easily and at an affordable price. and the decorators themselves are thriving with the additional demand, with some even having to turn down work. This really can’t be said for many trades who continue to suffer from the slow climate upturn, but it’s refreshing to know that not everyone is feeling the pinch.

Decorating your home really can transform it, whether your just adding some colour to a room or having a complete home re vamp it can make staying put far more desirable. Although decorating does consist of some hassle in terms of the mess and disruption it can cause, it’s only a temporary price to pay for a fresh feeling makeover.

25 Jan 12 Beauty highlights 2011

Telegraph beauty editor Kate Shapland rounds up the beauty industry highlights from the past year which made her love her job even more.

So how did the ‘lipstick factor’ stand up in a year where the economy, already on a down-ward turn, took a nosedive? the phrase was coined by Estee Lauder’s son Leonard to describe beauty’s resilience to recession: the idea is that if you can’t afford a new dress you will still treat yourself to a new lipstick, or another product. But did that still hold?

What I found I wanted to see more of, and was thrilled to find happening, was small scale creativity. It’s hard enough to get a beauty product to market at the best of times, but there have been some brilliant British beauty debuts this year in spite of the recession, and often from the smallest, most unexpected sources. May they blossom in 2012.

1. Aromatherapy Associates’ new shop: a blessing for those of us who appreciate quality aromatherapy, Geraldine Howard’s boutique and treatment rooms offer a chance to experience her A1 massages and buy her blends all in one place. If you haven’t yet been make it a priority for 2012. Appointments: 020 8569 7030.

2. Chanel’s nail show: a pastiche movie created to promote Chanel’s nail polishes. this took the form of a Bob Fosse-esque dance extravaganza and got everyone clicking their fingers and tapping their feet. a bit of helpful escapism in a year dominated by talk of cutbacks and cheap beauty accessories (false nails, false lashes ..). Watch the video: Chanel fingers dance up a storm

3. Burberry Body: gets top marks for the year’s savviest launch. Burberry created their new scent to be a fully integrated medium for projecting the entire brand and launched it via a Facebook sampling initiative (a first for scent). Forward-thinking and thought-provoking, it made conventional marketing look very old-fashioned. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is Burberry’s new Body

4. Clarisonic Classic Sonic Skin Cleansing System : unarguably the hottest beauty device of the year – every beauty editor wanted one of these in her bathroom, and no one could accuse it of being an expensive gimmick because it works brilliantly to clean, tone and brighten skin. an investment worth making. £155, clarisonic.co.uk .

5. Kate Logan Sake Baths: another victory from another singleminded beauty entrepreneur, Kate adapted this traditional Japanese bathing treat by adding soothing or reviving essential oils to it and created a new night-time bath habit for quite a few editors at the Telegraph. £21.99 for 4 baths, kateloganbeauty.com.

6. Guerlain Terracotta Jambes de Gazelle: beauty innovation doesn’t get much better (or more chic) than this. a cooling bronzer, it goes on like a dream, gives a tan that looks like it comes from within (read: real), and stands head and shoulders above other self tans – for legs or any other part of the body. £36, houseoffraser.co.uk .

7. Konjac Sponge: one of those simple wonders that seems to come out of nowhere, cleans up on consumer demand and attracts a predictable rabble of me-too’s in its wake. Made from the fibrous Konjac vegetable, this 100% natural, gentle Japanese cleanser/exfoliator is suited to all skins, even dry. £12, victoriahealth.com .

8. Paul & Joe Dolphin Blotting Papers: have you seen them?! the cute and covetable design of these mattifying face papers made them a little ray of lightness and fun in an otherwise play-safe, unimaginative and corporate beauty market. Expect even more creativity from Paul & Joe founder Sophie Albou in 2012. £12, asos.com .

9. Beautitude Bath Oils: a capsule line of beautifully blended bath oils – Patience, Joy and Peace – made by talented aromatherapist Rebecca O’Connor. Patience, the one I’ve fallen for, is a warming and stimulating blend of rosemary, lavender, ginger and juniperberry and was made for a winter bath. £22, beautitudeproducts.com .

10. Clarins Instant Smooth Crystal Lip Balms: like jelly moulded into lip bullets, these roll on like no other lip treat I’ve tried. Crystal, Crystal Coral and Crystal Red are the current shades; word has it there will be more in 2012. £16.50, 0800 036 3558.

11. Balance Me face care: it’s a joy to see a brand you have watched from concept blossom into something beautiful, especially when it’s British. Balance Me, created by Rebecca and Clare Hopkins, built on their bath/body repertoire this year with an impeccable skin care line. If you want natural, you want this. Balanceme.co.uk .

12. LAQA & Co Nail Polish Pens: desirably quirky but credible too, these nail lacquer pens have what I call ‘yum allure’. they look so good you want to lick them, but are high-performers too, evenly dispensing a lasting polish. Expect more yumminess next year with a fat lip from LAQA’s new chubby lip pencils. £9.50, selfridges.com .

23 Jan 12 3 Keys to Success With Microstock Photography

Advancements in technology have indelibly changed our lives. TVs are flat (and some have 3d) stuff that used to be small is large, things that use to be huge are now tiny. these changes coupled with a recession have caused businesses to cut cost and people are willing to do more to earn an extra income.

Multiple types of sites that accept submissions of stock photos, however the particular category that we are going to focus on is micro stock. there are higher paying forms of stock photography such as macro stock or rights managed but microstock is usually the easiest to submit to for newbie photographers.

Lots of Quality Photos
Take lots of photos and focus on quality. Always look for different angles, consider lighting and study new techniques. Bear in mind that you may have lots of bads at first but that’s alright. Bear in mind that stock photo agencies have very high standards so you always want to be improving.

A large amount of photos is what is going to earn an income. One seasoned photography told me that he an average earned $1.00 per year for every photo that he submitted. Bear in mind that most of the photos that he submitted didn’t sell (and that was with Royalty Free.) the point is, you can earn an income but you are going to have to work hard for it.

Multiple Agencies
Just about every stock agency is going to give you the offer of being exclusive. this usually means that you don’t sell photos to other agencies and can mean that you can’t sell them on your own site. They will usually offer you priority listings on their site, banner advertisements and possibly some other benefits. If you are a veteran photographer with years of experience then I’d recommend that you do this. however in your case I would submit the same photos to as many sites as possible. different sites attract various demographics of clientele who have diverse interest. this means that a photo that doesn’t sell well on one site may perform better on another.

Keywords
Keywords are the way you talk with both the stock photography search engines as well as sites like yahoo and Google. look for successful photos that are similar to yours and use the same keywords that they are using.

Hang in there as you learn this business, no one is an overnight success but with a lot of patience you can be successful.
