What is P.R.A.Y.?
P.R.A.Y. is a non-profit founded by myself in June 2009. The group was founded after my wife and I found it difficult to locate services that were needed for our son —who at age 4 was diagnosed with high functioning autism — in the Washington County area. we formed P.R.A.Y. so that we could help other families of autistic individuals find services that they may need.
our direction is to strive to be a reliable source of information for services, resources and support to individuals with autism and their families and to be a beacon of hope for opportunity to expand and improve the services available.
Some of the areas of services that we are providing information and referrals for are: financial and family support, referrals for therapies, family training, CPR training, information on having an individual with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and autism awareness training for emergency service providers.
What does P.R.A.Y. offer to the community? P.R.A.Y. offers family fun events/actives each month at different locations in the tri-state area. we hold events at the YMCAs located in Hagerstown, Chambersburg and Waynesboro and Monkey Joe’s in Hagerstown. we are currently partnered with Pathfinders for Autism in Hunt Valley Md,. to provide workshops and more ASD family fun events.

What’s the most exciting/rewarding part about your position with P.R.A.Y.? Knowing that we are here to help other families find local and tri-state resources much easier than four years ago, when Andrew was diagnosed with high functioning autism.
What does your job entail on a daily basis? I oversee the board of directors, attend meetings to help bring awareness to autism and to P.R.A.Y., along with working to find and provide more resources to the ASD communities.
